It really is true!
Marshall Goldsmith's book What Got You Here, Won't Get You There – How Successful People Become Even More Successful, reminds us that although we might be successful, we might not be as good as we think we are!
The book also prompts one to confront the fact that the very skills that got you this far, may not be what is needed for your future success. Even more confronting – Goldsmith suggests that many of us don't realise that we are "in our own way." Our own behaviour is the barrier to our progress and what's more we don't see this.
So how might we find out more about ourselves and our steps to success?
At edLead Consulting, we believe that every school leader needs a coach. This is not a sports coach who directs and corrects, this is a trusted confidential partner who listens, questions and supports you to move forward.
The educational leadership coach believes you are already capable and helps you to develop to the next level. The coach helps you hold up a mirror to yourself so you can discover what you need in order to move from here to there.
In the fast paced, complex world of school leadership, coaching equips you to deal with challenge and to develop your personal awareness and skills so you can impact more positively on those you lead.
Coaching really highlights the power of the one to one interaction – something that we all need.
So as you decide how you measure your success and plan what you want to achieve in the future, consider how coaching might allow you to get from here to there.
At edLead, our team are trained coaches. We each hold Essential Coaching Skills certificates gained through the New Zealand School of Coaching. We coach individuals and teams and would love to work with you in the future.
