edLead Learning In Melbourne

We’re excited about what we have been doing recently and want to share it with you.

We have the opportunity to hear Brenē Brown speak in Melbourne on Friday 2nd August……… and it was fantastic!!

Brenē Brown came to our attention some time ago through the books she has written and her TED Talk ‘The Power of Vulnerability’. Her book Dare to Lead has influenced our work positively. In her live presentation ‘Brave Leaders, Courageous Cultures’ Brenē took us into areas so important to leading people, but areas that we may not often delve into:

  • The future of leadership

  • Courage

  • Boundaries

  • Vulnerability

  • Resilience

  • Values

  • Trust

  • Empathy

The lessons from Brené Brown were numerous but the overarching message was clear: be vulnerable - show up, choose courage over comfort; even when you cannot control the outcome.

This material aligns so closely with our edLead coaching way of being. Our experience has left us inspired and refreshed and with new clarity about how we might work with our clients.

From the Melbourne Exhibition and Conference Centre, a short uber ride delivered us to South Melbourne Park Primary School – a unique new school which opened at the beginning of this year.

Principal Rosemary Cosentino hosted our visit and stepped us through the school's approach to developing the curriculum and culture. Rosemary inspired us with the focus on values and connection to the local community.

The facilities at South Melbourne Park are unique, with old and new working alongside each other. Part of the school occupies the old Heritage buildings of the Albert Park Signal Depot and Drill Hall, with the rest of the school buildings being brand new, open and flexible.

South Melbourne Park Primary Schools website is well worth a visit. Rosemary highlighted to us the importance of branding to capture key messages. Take a look at

It was great to connect with Rosemary and talk about initiatives that link to the direction we see schools taking in New Zealand. With a New Zealand connection through working with Karen Boyes, Rosemary is open to inquiries from visitors.

We have gained a lot from our time in Melbourne and have been reminded that leaders don’t have to have all the ideas. Leaders just need to have the right questions and make space for others. And in the words of Brenē Brown- the future of leadership belongs to the brave. What is this going to look like for you in the rest of 2019?

In the past, jobs were about muscles, now they’re about brains, but in the future, they’ll be about the heart.
