We understand that term 4 is unique.
It can result in people not always being the best versions of themselves. Understandably, because we’re all human beings, we sometimes slip. Let’s not forget to focus on the celebrations and the positives as well as upholding our high standards.
As the leader your words and response can influence “the weather”.
Remember to be the adult, do what’s right and stay out of the drama pit.
What might this sound like?
● ‘Thanks for your feedback. What could that look like next time?’
● ‘Well done you’ve come so far.’
● ‘What was the highlight?’
● ‘What are you most proud of?’
● ‘How else could we look at that?’
● ‘Hey I noticed… What's going on for you right now?’
● ‘Thank you. I appreciate…’
● ‘I acknowledge that there’s a lot on right now and we agreed…’
● ‘What support do you need…?’
● ‘What would be most useful for you…?’
● ‘How can you change that?’
● ‘Did you realise…?’
● ‘What are the positive sides of…?’
● ‘How urgent or important is this?’
● ‘What have you considered you might do?’
● ‘If you looked at this from the perspective of… what would you see?’
“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response.”

Techniques to help you choose your response:
● Silence
● Like an orchestra before they perform, take the time to tune yourself; breath, drink some water, change your scenery
● Positive self-talk; ‘I can do this’
● Allow time
● Identify your purpose - script.
● Coach yourself; ‘What can I control? What can I influence? What can I let go of?’
● Check-in; ‘What stories am I telling myself?’
