MĀNAWATIA A MATARIKI

Matariki, or Puanga for our Taranaki and Whanganui whānau, is a time to reflect on the past year, celebrate the present, and plan for the year ahead. Here are some practical suggestions from us.

3 Check-in Questions

-What has been the highlight of your māhi so far?

-What is something you would like to do more of?

-What are you grateful for?

2 Provocations

‘Speaking up is the first step to solve silent problems’

‘Tūngia te ururua kia tupu whakaritorito te tupu o te harakeke’

Set the overgrown bush alight, and the new flax shoots will spring up.

1 Tool

Titiro whakamuri, kōkiri whakamua

Look backwards to move forwards.

Matariki is a time to think about what our manako (hopes) and whāinga (goals) are for the year.

SOAR Tool

Strengths: What is going well? What is working? What are you celebrating? What have you achieved?

Opportunities: How might you develop that? Who might help you? What new directions could be explored?

Aspirations: What do you want to do next? What are your hopes in the second half of the year?

Results: What would people notice about your leadership? How will you track your progress? How will you know you have achieved this?
